Champai Soren, former CM of Jharkhand, resigns from JMM citing dissatisfaction with party policies and direction, signaling a shift to the BJP.
JAMSHEDPUR – Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren has resigned from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) party.
In a heartfelt letter addressed to JMM supremo Shibu Soren, Champai Soren expressed his displeasure over the current policies and direction of the party.
He stated that under Shibu Soren’s guidance, the party was founded to uplift tribal areas, but it has now deviated from its original path.
Soren mentioned his discomfort in the party’s present state and hinted at health concerns and the lack of a suitable platform within JMM where he could voice his opinions freely.
His resignation marks the end of his long association with the party.
Impact on Local Politics
Following Champai Soren’s announcement to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), political dynamics in Jharkhand and his constituency of Saraikela have begun to shift.
Reports suggest that the JMM office in Mahuldih, located in Saraikela’s Rajnagar, is being repainted in saffron colors.
Preparations are underway to put up BJP banners and posters in the area.
Soren’s supporters have shown visible excitement over his move to the BJP.
A local party worker commented, “We are hopeful that Soren’s leadership will bring positive changes in our region.”
This significant political shift is expected to impact the forthcoming elections and the overall political landscape of Jharkhand.

JMM office in Rajnagar Mahuldih is now being repainted in saffron soon after Champai Soren’s resignation from the party.
