JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel UISL inaugurated a polio immunization booth at the Kadma Immunization Center on August 25, 2024, as part of the National Immunization Day – Pulse Polio Programme.
The event saw the participation of notable figures such as Dr. Shahir Pal, Civil Surgeon; Dr. Panda, RCH Officer; Dr. Saumalya from WHO; and Dr. Anil Kumar from the Rotary Club.
The initiative is part of Tata Steel UISL’s commitment to public health, with 415 polio vaccination booths set up across Jamshedpur to cover approximately 75,000 children.
These booths are strategically located at health centers, schools, bus stops, and marketplaces to ensure maximum reach.
Each booth is staffed by two trained vaccinators, with mobile units deployed to cover remote areas and ensure no child is left out.
To maintain vaccine potency, 1,660 ice boxes and 400 vaccine carriers are in use, with 41 supervisors overseeing the operation.
The first phase of the drive started on August 25, 2024, with additional house-to-house coverage planned for August 26 and 27 to reach children missed in the initial round.
Tata Steel UISL’s efforts align with the government’s goal of eradicating polio and safeguarding the health of future generations.
