Tata Steel’s FAMD Wins Three Awards at CII Safety Symposium

Joda West Mine, Gopalpur Plant, and Saruabil Mine recognized for safety excellence

Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division (FAMD) secured three prestigious awards at the 18th CII Safety Symposium in Kolkata.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s FAMD was the recipient of three accolades at the 18th CII Eastern Region Safety Symposium, which serves as a testament to their dedication to digital innovation and safety.

The Regional Final Winner in the Mining category was the Joda West Iron and Manganese Mine in Keonjhar district.

The First Runner-Up position in the Large-Scale Manufacturing category was achieved by Gopalpur’s Ferro Alloys Plant.

The Saruabil Chromite Mine in Jajpur district was awarded the Second Runner-Up title in the Mining category.

Tata Steel’s commitment to the implementation of state-of-the-art digital solutions and the preservation of rigorous safety protocols is underscored by these accomplishments.

Pankaj Satija, the Executive-In-Charge of FAMD, expressed his pride in the accolades, stating that they would motivate the team to persist in the establishment of a sustainable and secure work environment.

He said: "These accolades will surely inspire our team to continue creating a safe and sustainable working environment. The integration of digital tools into our Environment, Health, Safety (EHS) protocols not only enhances safety and strengthens sustainable practices but also drives operational excellence across our operations."

Thakur Ajay Kumar Vishwambharnath, Kishore Baran Maity, Arvind Singh, Priyadarsi Suvakant Padhi, and Pulluri Shashank were among the company representatives who received the awards.

The symposium, which was titled "Leveraging Digitization for EHS Excellence," convened industry professionals, policymakers, and safety professionals.

Tata Steel’s leadership in the adoption of innovative practices that guarantee the safety of its workforce and minimize environmental impact is reaffirmed by this recognition.

The event facilitated the exchange of best practices and insights, thereby advancing the shared objective of attaining excellence in EHS through digitization.
