150 Para Athletes From 18 Districts Compete at JRD Sports Complex

JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur is hosting state-level para athletics and para badminton championships with wide participation.

The championships are being organised with Paralympic Committee support. Events are scheduled from February 7 to 8.

Meanwhile, the venue is the J.R.D. Tata Sports Complex. Athletes are competing in multiple para disciplines.

Moreover, around 150 differently abled athletes are participating. Players represent 18 districts of Jharkhand.

However, organisers said the event builds competitive exposure. It also prepares athletes for higher tournaments.

In contrast, both athletics and para badminton events are included. Players are showing strong enthusiasm.

Meanwhile, organiser Purvi Ghosh shared event objectives. She highlighted athlete empowerment through sport.

Moreover, she said the platform supports talent identification. It also aids national-level preparation.

However, special arrangements were made for participants. Facilities were designed for accessibility and comfort.

Meanwhile, organisers arranged accommodation and meals. Medical support was also provided on site.

In addition, coaches and guardians are present in large numbers. Their support remains visible throughout matches.

Moreover, the event promotes confidence among athletes. It also spreads positive social awareness.

However, similar athletics events were earlier held in the city. One such event was the Great Jharkhand Run.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand also hosted national competitions earlier. These included the SAAF Athletics Championships.

Moreover, schools and institutions promote athletics locally. Events like school sports days support grassroots talent.

In contrast, athletics bodies continue leadership expansion. This includes recent appointments.

Meanwhile, corporate-backed events also strengthen sports culture. One example is the Tata Steel athletics meet.
