BJP Youth Wing Protest in Ranchi Meets Police Force

Tear gas, water cannons used as BJYM workers breach barricades near CM’s house

Police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse BJP youth wing protesters in Ranchi during a rally against the Hemant Soren government.

RANCHI – Jharkhand Police deployed tear gas and water cannons against Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers who breached barricades during a protest in Ranchi.

The BJYM rally, held near Morabadi Ground, aimed to march towards Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s residence.

Police resorted to baton charges as protesters attempted to break through barricades.

BJP leaders claim several workers were injured during the confrontation with law enforcement.

Former Chief Minister Arjun Munda criticized the use of force, stating, "We had never seen such an act in Jharkhand earlier."

The district administration had imposed prohibitory orders within a 500-meter radius of Morabadi Ground, banning public gatherings and demonstrations.

A police official stated that force was used after BJYM workers violated these orders and attempted to enter the Chief Minister’s residence.

Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha clarified that permission was granted only for a meeting, not a rally.

BJP leader Amar Kumar Bauri asserted it was time to remove the JMM-led coalition from power, declaring, "No one can stop us."

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan accused the government of suppressing dissent and predicted its downfall.

Senior BJP leaders, including Union Minister Sanjay Seth and former CM Babulal Marandi, staged a sit-in protest following the police action.

The saffron party criticized the prohibitory orders as an attempt to silence BJYM workers’ voices.

Chouhan alleged that the government had even seized buses to prevent BJP workers from reaching Ranchi.

The BJP accused the Hemant Soren government of failing to deliver on its promises and cited a rise in crimes during its tenure.
