JAMSHEDPUR – A major rail mishap was narrowly avoided on Sunday when the coupling of a goods train traveling from Kharagpur to Tatanagar came unlocked, causing the train to split into two sections.
The loco pilot quickly stopped the engine, allowing the train to come to a halt after taking air and applying the brake.
The station master was immediately informed, and a team was dispatched to the scene to reconnect the separated coaches.
The quick response of the loco pilot prevented what could have been a catastrophic accident.
This incident is the latest in a series of near-mishaps, including a goods train coach catching fire at Galudih station a few days ago and another fire in a coal-laden goods train at Chakulia just two days ago.
Despite these frequent incidents, timely interventions have successfully prevented serious accidents.
