Field trip combines environmental education with hands-on learning

JAMSHEDPUR – Class VIII students from Loyola School participated in an educational field trip to Jeshu Bhavan, combining hands-on learning about local flora with environmental awareness activities.
Students performed a nukkad naatak (street play) during their visit to Jeshu Bhavan in Mango.
The young learners completed a 20-minute project identifying various tree species on the premises, including Ashoka, Neem, Fig, and Tamarind.
Participants were introduced to Tarumitra, a nationwide student organization promoting ecological sensitivity in India.
Tarumitra, founded in 1988 in Patna, has grown to include over 200,000 members across more than 1,000 high schools and colleges.
The organization received Special Consultative Status from the UN in 2005 for its ecological awareness campaigns.
Students learned about Tarumitra’s bio-reserve in Patna, which houses over 400 vanishing trees and plants native to North India.
The field trip provided a unique opportunity to combine environmental education with practical experience.
Loyola School’s initiative aims to foster a deeper understanding of local ecosystems and conservation efforts among students.
The excursion highlighted the importance of biodiversity and environmental awareness for young learners.
