Tata Steel UISL organized a condolence meeting today to honor the memory of Late Om Prakash, who served as a Senior Sanitary Supervisor in the Public Health Services department and passed away at the age of 56.
JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel UISL today held a condolence meeting to pay tribute to Late Om Prakash, a Senior Sanitary Supervisor in the Public Health Services department, who recently passed away at the age of 56.
The meeting was attended by Ritu Raj Sinha, Managing Director of Tata Steel UISL, along with senior leadership, Raghunath Pandey, President of JUSCO Shramik Union, and several union members.
The gathering served as a reminder of the solidarity within the Tata Steel UISL family during times of grief.
Incident Overview
It is pertinent to note that Om Prakash’s death has led to a legal case being filed at the Golmuri police station.
The case has been registered against Dr. Alok Kumar, the Departmental Chief of Public Health at Tata Steel UISL, and the Area Manager, under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita 2023 for abetment to suicide.
Allegations and Investigation
According to the complaint, Om Prakash took his own life due to excessive work pressure and stress imposed by the accused.
His son, Pushpendra Kumar, stated that his father had been struggling with an overwhelming workload for several months.
Om Prakash was found deceased in his office at Workers Flat No. 102 in Golmuri on Wednesday.
A suicide note was recovered from his shirt pocket, citing work-related stress as the reason for his actions.
The note mentioned his responsibilities across several areas, including four clusters in Baridih, Sidhgora, Old and New Baridih, and Baridih EMC.
Company’s Response
Tata Steel UISL has stated that they are providing full support to the aggrieved family as per company policy.
Raghunath Pandey, along with other union representatives, was present at the scene, although the company has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.

In his note, Om Prakash expressed gratitude to colleagues “Ojha ji” and “Binod ji” and made a final request to ensure his wife receives any dues owed to him.
The company emphasized its commitment to the safety and well-being of all stakeholders.
