JAMSHEDPUR – The Howrah-Mumbai Mail accident near Barabambo Potobeda resulted in the cancellation of numerous trains and the modification of routes at Tatanagar station, affecting a dozen trains.
Train services were significantly disrupted on Tuesday as a result of the railway tragedy near Barabambo Potobeda in Seraikela-Kharsawan.
On July 30, approximately 319 tickets were cancelled at Tatanagar station, resulting in refunds that exceeded Rs 3 lakh.
On July 31, it was anticipated that an additional 300 to 350 tickets would be cancelled.
The abrupt announcement of train cancellations caused a state of panic among the more than one lakh daily passengers at Tatanagar station.
The unexpected cancellations had a particularly significant impact on passengers who had made reservations months in advance.
The refunds were directly deposited into the accounts of online ticket holders, while those who booked through cyber cafes encountered challenges in obtaining them.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, there were lengthy lines for counter-ticket purchasers to return their tickets at Tatanagar station.
The cancellation of numerous trains, such as the Howrah-Titlagarh-Kantabanji Express and the Kharagpur-Jhargram-Dhanbad Express, on July 30 further exacerbated the issues faced by passengers.
Numerous travelers rescheduled their trips and purchased tickets from alternative stations, such as Chakradharpur.
