Train Accident Aftermath: Patients Discharged, Some Still Under Care

Concerns Linger for Belongings Lost in Howrah-Mumbai Mail Derailment

Nearly half of the injured passengers from the recent railway incident have been released from hospital, while others continue treatment.

JAMSHEDPUR – Medical officials report progress in the recovery of passengers affected by the recent Howrah-Mumbai Mail derailment.

The Chakradharpur Railway Hospital has been at the forefront of treating victims from Tuesday’s train accident.

Initially admitting 23 injured passengers, the hospital has now discharged 11 individuals whose conditions have shown marked improvement.

Family members have been able to escort their recovered relatives home, bringing relief to many affected by the incident.

However, 12 passengers remain under medical supervision at the facility, receiving ongoing care for their injuries.

Hospital staff have confirmed that those discharged were in stable condition before leaving the premises.

Patients still undergoing treatment have expressed satisfaction with the medical attention provided by the hospital.

One recovering passenger, Badal Kumar Das from Malda, West Bengal, voiced concerns about personal belongings lost during the chaotic event.

"I’m worried about my bag containing money and important documents. It went missing in the confusion of the accident," Das explained to hospital staff.

Another patient, Madhav Mandal, shared a similar predicament, having left his bag on the train during the emergency evacuation.

Both men are hopeful that railway authorities will assist in locating and returning their missing possessions.

The accident, which occurred between Rajkharsawan and Barabambo stations, has highlighted both the immediate and ongoing challenges faced by affected passengers.
