Two Boys Suspected to Be Drowned in Kharkai River, Search Operations Underway
Adityapur boys caught in strong current during bath; NDRF team deployed for rescue.
Two 15-year-old boys, Aditya Mahato and Sumit Modi, were trapped in the strong current of Kharkai River while bathing near the under-construction check dam in Asangi.
JAMSHEDPUR – On Sunday, Aditya Mahato, son of Shambhu Mahato from Ichhapur Line Tola, and Sumit Modi, son of Prakash Modi from Mandir Tola, were trapped in the strong current of Kharkai River while bathing near the under-construction check dam in Asangi.
Local divers attempted to rescue the boys, but the operation was halted due to darkness and rain.
On Monday morning, a thirty-member NDRF team from Ranchi took charge of the rescue efforts.
Former Vice President of Adityapur Municipal Council Purendra Narayan Singh, former Ward 24 Councillor Dhiren Mahato, RIT Police Station Officer Vinay Kumar Singh, along with the families of the boys and local residents, are present at the site.
