Government Schemes to Benefit Cameroon Returnees

Jharkhand CM appoints nodal officer to assist repatriated workers

Chief Minister Hemant Soren initiates comprehensive support for 27 migrant laborers recently returned from Cameroon, Africa.

RANCHI – Jharkhand government takes swift action to integrate returned migrant workers into welfare schemes.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed the inclusion of 27 recently repatriated migrant workers from Cameroon in various government welfare programs.

Joint Labor Commissioner Rajesh Prasad has been appointed as the nodal officer to oversee the implementation of these schemes.

"Our priority is to ensure these workers receive all possible support," stated a spokesperson from the Chief Minister’s office.

Prasad is tasked with visiting relevant districts within 72 hours to coordinate with local officials and develop an action plan.

The Labor Commissioner will conduct daily reviews of the progress and report directly to higher authorities.

This initiative follows the successful repatriation of the workers who had sought government help due to salary disputes and difficult living conditions in Cameroon.

CM Soren’s intervention resulted in the recovery of approximately Rs 30 lakh in unpaid wages for the affected workers.

Each returned laborer has already received Rs 25,000 as immediate financial assistance upon their arrival in Jharkhand.
