Railway Co-op Urban Bank Election Results Shake Up Leadership

Congress and Union candidates split victories in cooperative society polls

Jamshedpur witnesses a shift in railway cooperative bank leadership as election results reveal a balanced outcome.

JAMSHEDPUR – The South East Zone Railway Co-operative Society Urban Bank has seen a significant shake-up in its leadership following the conclusion of recent elections.

The vote count, finalized on Thursday evening, showcased a competitive race between Men’s Congress and Men’s Union factions.

Men’s Congress secured five crucial victories in Tatanagar, with winners emerging from various departments including Engineering and Operations.

Not to be outdone, the Men’s Union celebrated the success of seven candidates across different categories, demonstrating strong support.

The election, which covered multiple railway zones, marked the first such event since 2010, following a directive from the Kolkata High Court.

Shashi Mishra, representing the Men’s Congress, expressed satisfaction with the results, highlighting their anti-corruption platform.

"Our candidates’ significant margin of victory reflects the workers’ desire for transparency in the Urban Bank’s operations," Mishra stated.

Conversely, MK Singh of the Men’s Union claimed a majority of wins across the division, with expectations of further gains as counting continues.

The final tally remains in flux, with results from departments like Signal and Telecom still pending.

This election has set the stage for potential changes in the cooperative society’s governance, with implications for thousands of railway employees.
