Former Chief Minister Champai Soren’s recent Seraikela-Kharsawan visit highlighted water infrastructure projects and agricultural support initiatives.

SERAIKELA – Former Chief Minister Champai Soren recently visited Seraikela-Kharsawan district, unveiling plans for significant water infrastructure projects and addressing farmer concerns.

The Seraikela MLA revealed that the Gazia Barrage in Gamharia will soon supply water to several panchayats through a pipeline system.

This project is nearing inauguration and is expected to benefit 8-9 panchayats in the region.

Soren also announced the construction of three weirs on the Kharkai river, strategically located at Titirbila, Pauri, and another site.

These structures aim to enhance water availability for nearby panchayats and facilitate year-round agricultural activities.

Addressing the current agricultural challenges, the former Chief Minister acknowledged the impact of insufficient July rainfall on local farmers.

"We are closely monitoring the situation and will implement measures to support our farming community soon," Soren stated during his visit.

He emphasized that the upcoming water projects would play a crucial role in mitigating water scarcity issues in agricultural fields.

These initiatives are expected to enable farmers to diversify their crop production throughout the year.

During his tour, Soren participated in religious activities, offering prayers at the Shamshan Kali temple located at Maa Jhumkeshwari Sthan in Seraikela.

The former CM prayed for the prosperity of both the district and the state.

His itinerary also included a visit to the newly constructed bus stand and the inauguration of the local press club situated in the block office.

Notable figures present included Bodra Sonaram, the District Council President, and Acharya Sanad, the MLA representative.

Other prominent attendees were Mohanty Lipu, Singhdev Bada Babu, and various JMM party workers.
