Bhuinyadih Jamshedpur Residents Protest Demolition Notices

Youth Congress leader assures legal support against eviction orders

Residents meet with Circle Officer to address concerns over 150 houses facing demolition.

JAMSHEDPUR – Residents of Bhuinyadih Basti, led by Jharkhand State Youth Congress General Secretary Rakesh Sahu, met with Circle Officer Manoj Kumar at the Jamshedpur Block Office on Saturday to protest demolition notices issued to 150 houses.

The notices target homes built on riverbanks in areas including Kalyan Nagar and Indira Nagar Basti.

"We will consult legal experts and ensure no houses in Bhuinyadih, Kalyan Nagar, Indira Nagar, and Chhaya Nagar are demolished," Sahu stated during the protest.

CO Kumar instructed residents, who had initially not responded to the notices, to submit their responses by Tuesday.

The protest saw participation from various local leaders including Jamshedpur East Assembly President Neeraj Sahu and Vice President Gautam Sahu.

"These demolition notices have caused widespread fear among affected residents," explained Raunak Kumar, one of the protestors.

The notices, issued by the Jamshedpur Circle Officer, impact areas under the Sitaramdera Police Station jurisdiction.

Residents expressed concerns about potential displacement and loss of homes they have occupied for years.

The Youth Congress’s involvement highlights the political significance of the issue in the region.

Local authorities face the challenge of balancing urban development with the needs of long-term residents in these areas.

The protest underscores the ongoing tension between riverbank settlements and efforts to clear encroachments in Jamshedpur.

As the Tuesday deadline approaches, residents and local leaders are preparing to present their case against the demolition orders.

The outcome of this protest could have significant implications for similar settlements across Jamshedpur and neighboring areas.
