Former Pakur MLA Akil Akhtar Resigns from AJSU Party
Ex-MLA Plans to Contest Upcoming Jharkhand Assembly Elections
On Monday, Akil Akhtar, the former MLA of the Pakur assembly constituency and AJSU central vice-president, resigned from the primary membership of the AJSU party.
RANCHI – Akil Akhtar, former MLA of the Pakur assembly constituency and AJSU central vice-president, resigned from the AJSU party on Monday.
Akhtar announced his resignation in a letter to AJSU central president Sudesh Mahato, citing personal reasons for stepping down from all posts, including the primary membership.
In a Facebook post, Akhtar revealed his intention to contest the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, though he has not decided whether he will run as an Independent or join another party. He stated that he would respect public sentiments in making this decision.
Akhtar first entered the Jharkhand assembly by winning the Pakur assembly constituency election in 2009, defeating former minister Alamgir Alam. Currently, Alamgir Alam is the MLA from Pakur and is under judicial custody after being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.
Akhtar has announced his plans to run in the upcoming assembly elections through social media.
