RANCHI – Akil Akhtar, former MLA of the Pakur assembly constituency and AJSU central vice-president, resigned from the AJSU party on Monday.

Akhtar announced his resignation in a letter to AJSU central president Sudesh Mahato, citing personal reasons for stepping down from all posts, including the primary membership.

In a Facebook post, Akhtar revealed his intention to contest the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, though he has not decided whether he will run as an Independent or join another party. He stated that he would respect public sentiments in making this decision.
