Rourkela Steel Plant Emerges Victorious, Tata Steel Claims Runner-Up Spot

30 participants from 4 units compete in two-day event at JRD Tata Sports Complex.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s Sports Department recently hosted the first-ever All India Inter Steel Plant Swimming Meet from July 9-10, 2024, at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.

"We are hosting this championship in the Events category for the first time," said a spokesperson from Tata Steel.

Vibhuti Dhand Adesara, who is the Head of Sports Events and Training Centre, had the honor of attending the event as the Chief Guest.

The tournament was attended by 30 swimmers who were representing four Tata Steel units.

Rourkela Steel Plant came out as the champions, while Tata Steel secured the runner-up position.

"This event demonstrates our dedication to encouraging sports within our workforce," Adesara commented.

Yuvraj Patel and Hemraj Patel, who were technical officials, made sure that fair play was maintained throughout the competition.

Saurabh Shukla, who is the Secretary of SPSB, and Sacchidananda Singh, who is an Observer, were also in attendance.

The championship gave employees an opportunity to showcase their swimming abilities.

This event’s success highlights Tata Steel’s increasing participation in national-level sporting competitions.
