Jamshedpur to Host Prestigious Durand Cup for First Time

133rd Edition of Asia’s Oldest Football Tournament Expands to New Cities

24 teams to compete in tournament kicking off July 27, 2024, across four host locations.

JAMSHEDPUR – The HQ Eastern Command of the Indian Army has announced that Jamshedpur will host matches in the 133rd IndianOil Durand Cup, marking the city’s debut as a venue for Asia’s oldest football tournament.

"This expansion reflects our commitment to promoting football across East and Northeast India," stated Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command.

Key Tournament Details:

Dates: July 27 – August 31, 2024

Host Cities: Jamshedpur, Shillong, Kokrajhar, and Kolkata

Participating Teams: 24, including ISL, I-League, and Armed Forces teams

Format: 43 matches in round-robin league-cum-knockout structure

Final Venue: Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, Kolkata

Pre-Tournament Events:

  • Nationwide trophy tour starting July 10 from New Delhi

  • Trophies to visit Jamshedpur before opening match
