JAMSHEDPUR – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jamshedpur Mahanagar unit observed Black Day on Tuesday to mark the 49th anniversary of the 1975 Emergency declaration.
A seminar titled "Protecting Democracy – Our Resolve" was held at Bada Hanuman Temple auditorium in Mango, chaired by city president Sudhansu Ojha.
Opposition Leader Amar Bauri honored local democracy defenders who faced imprisonment during the Emergency.
BJP leaders conducted a padyatra from the venue to Gandhi Maidan, paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
Amar Bauri called the Emergency "the darkest chapter in Indian democracy," criticizing the suspension of civil liberties.
The event saw participation from former MLAs, state-level BJP leaders, and party workers wearing black armbands.
