Pre-Monsoon Showers Bring Relief to Jharkhand Amid Heatwave

Jharkhand, including Kolhan, experiences pre-monsoon drizzle, providing some respite from the heat but increasing humidity levels.

Pre-monsoon rain in Jharkhand offers slight relief, yet high humidity persists, with a heatwave affecting several districts.

RANCHI – Pre-monsoon showers have started across Jharkhand, including the Kolhan region, bringing some relief to residents who have been enduring scorching temperatures.

For the past two days, intermittent drizzles have been recorded in several districts, providing a much-needed respite from the heat.

However, the increased humidity has kept the atmosphere sticky and uncomfortable.

On Tuesday, a heatwave was recorded in Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Koderma, Giridih, and Deoghar.

Garhwa registered the highest temperature at 43.7 degrees Celsius.

Jamshedpur saw a maximum temperature of 38.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.2 degrees.

Ranchi recorded a temperature of 37.5 degrees, while Saraikela reached 38.9 degrees, and West Singhbhum hit 37.7 degrees.

Drizzle Relief in Jamshedpur and Ranchi on Tuesday Morning

On Tuesday morning, Jamshedpur experienced a slight drizzle, providing momentary relief from the heat.

However, the humidity levels remained high, making the weather still quite uncomfortable for residents.

Weather Forecast for the Next Two Days

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for a heatwave in the north-western and adjacent northern parts of the state, including Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Koderma, Latehar, and Lohardaga, for June 19.

There is also a possibility of rain with thunderstorms in some parts of the state on Wednesday and Thursday, with wind speeds expected to reach 40-50 km per hour.

Monsoon Update

According to the Meteorological Department, a cyclonic circulation is forming in northeastern Assam, which is causing south-western winds to move towards Jharkhand from the Bay of Bengal.

This phenomenon is resulting in light to moderate rain across most parts of the state.

The department forecasts that monsoon conditions will become favorable in about four days.

In conjunction with Bihar, monsoon conditions are also expected to develop in Jharkhand within the next three to four days.

Residents are advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to deal with the fluctuating weather conditions.
