Weather department predicts good rainfall across 24 districts in coming days
Temperature drop expected as southwest monsoon advances through the state.
RANCHI – The southwest monsoon has officially entered Jharkhand, including the Kolhan region, on Friday, according to Dr. Abhishek Anand, meteorologist at the Ranchi center.
"We expect the monsoon to expand further in the coming days, with good rainfall likely in 24 districts," Dr. Anand stated.
The weather expert noted that a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal and a trough line will influence Jharkhand’s weather patterns.
With the monsoon’s arrival, temperatures across all districts have dropped below 40°C, though increased humidity is causing discomfort.
"Temperatures in Kolhan and other parts of Jharkhand are expected to fall by 2 to 4 degrees in the coming days," Dr. Anand added.
Palamu district recorded the highest temperature on Friday at 39.4°C.
Jamshedpur experienced a maximum temperature of 36.7°C and a minimum of 26.6°C.
Other notable temperature readings included:
– Ranchi: 32.6°C
– Daltonganj: 39.3°C
– West Singhbhum: 33.7°C
– Seraikela: 37.9°C
Light showers were reported in Jamshedpur and several other locations on Friday.
The weather department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Koderma, Hazaribagh, Latehar, Lohardaga, Ramgarh, and Ranchi from June 29 to July 1.
Other districts are also likely to receive rainfall during this period.
This monsoon onset brings hope for farmers and relief from the summer heat for residents across Jharkhand.
