Drizzle Brings Relief to Jharkhand as Heatwave Persists

Meteorological Department Forecasts Heavy Rain Across State

Light showers offer respite from scorching temperatures in Jharkhand, with weather experts predicting significant rainfall and thunderstorms in the coming days.

RANCHI – A brief drizzle on Tuesday provided momentary relief to residents across Jharkhand, including the Kolhan region, as temperatures continued to soar in several districts.

"The light rain was a welcome break from the intense heat we’ve been experiencing," remarked a local resident of East Singhbhum. "We’re hoping for more substantial rainfall in the coming days to cool things down."

Despite the drizzle, temperatures remained high in many areas. Garhwa district recorded the day’s peak at 40.9 degrees Celsius, while Jamshedpur saw a maximum of 39.5 degrees.

The Meteorological Department’s Ranchi Center has forecast heavy rainfall for most of Jharkhand in the coming days. Northeastern and southern districts are expected to receive significant precipitation on June 26.

Ramgarh district reported the highest rainfall on Tuesday, measuring 4.0 mm. The weather experts anticipate thunderstorms to accompany the predicted heavy rains.

West Singhbhum and Saraikela experienced relatively lower temperatures, with maximums of 37.6 and 39.6 degrees Celsius respectively.

The northwestern and central parts of the state, including Palamu and Garhwa, are likely to see substantial rainfall on June 28 and 29, according to the weather department.

Residents across Jharkhand are advised to stay prepared for changing weather conditions as the monsoon season progresses.
