Chief Electoral Officer Announces Overall 66.19% Polling Percentage
Jharkhand witnessed a voter turnout of 70.88% in the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha polls, as stated by Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar.
RANCHI – In a press conference, Jharkhand’s Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar provided insights into the voting trends and overall turnout in the state during the Lok Sabha elections.
The seventh phase, which concluded the polling process in Jharkhand, recorded a 70.88% voter turnout.
Kumar further elaborated on the constituency-wise voting percentages, with Rajmahal at 70.78%, Dumka at 73.87%, and Godda at 68.63%.
Across all four phases of the Lok Sabha polls, Jharkhand witnessed an overall voting percentage of 66.19%.
Women Voters Take the Lead
One of the notable highlights of the election was the higher participation of women voters compared to men.
According to K Ravi Kumar, women outnumbered men voters in 12 out of the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Jharkhand.
"Out of 81 assembly constituencies in Jharkhand, women voters have voted more than men in 68 assembly constituencies," Kumar revealed. "Men have voted more in only 13 assembly constituencies."
This trend showcases the increasing political engagement and empowerment of women in the state.
Comparison with 2019 Lok Sabha Elections
The Chief Electoral Officer also drew comparisons between the current voting percentages and those of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand.
Eight parliamentary constituencies witnessed an increase in voter turnout compared to the previous election.
However, six Lok Sabha constituencies, particularly those near the Bihar border in the northern belt, such as Palamu, Chatra, Hazaribagh, and Kodarma, experienced a decrease in voting percentage.
Preparations for Counting Underway
With the voting process concluded, the focus now shifts to the counting of votes.
K Ravi Kumar assured that all necessary preparations for the counting process have been completed.
"Counting will commence at 8 am on June 4, and three-tier security arrangements have been put in place at all counting stations to ensure a smooth and secure process," he said.
Exit Polls Predict NDA Victory
As the nation eagerly awaits the official results, exit polls conducted on Saturday have predicted a comfortable victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Jharkhand.
However, the true outcome will be revealed on June 4 when the votes are counted and the mandate of the people is announced.
The Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand have witnessed active participation from voters across the state, with women, in particular, demonstrating their increasing political awareness and involvement.
As the state prepares for the counting day, the hopes and aspirations of the people rest on the democratic process to elect their representatives and shape the future of Jharkhand.
