Jamshedpur: Urban Voter Turnout Disappoints, Rural Voters Rock

Rural constituencies show strong voter turnout, compensating for low urban turnout.

Phase 6 of the 2024 General Elections sees Jamshedpur recording a 66.79% voter turnout.

JAMSHEDPUR – The urban voters of Jamshedpur parliamentary constituency have much to learn from their rural counterparts.

Despite incentives such as a holiday, compulsory leave, SVEEP efforts to spread awareness, and a lot of street theatre, song and dance and intense messaging, urban areas recorded lower voter turnout, while rural voters significantly boosted the overall participation.

The urban voters disappointed, while the rural voters despite odds participated in the democratic process of voting.

The final tally of voter turnout was revised upwards compared to the data at 5 p.m. after the polling ended on all booths across the state.
