Police investigate misleading job offer scam, perpetrators face stringent action

A case of fraud has been lodged at the Dhurwa police station following the misuse of Odisha Governor and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das’ photo in a deceptive Facebook post. The complaint was filed by Dinesh Kedia, Personal Secretary to Raghubar Das, who brought the matter to the attention of the authorities.

RANCHI – Authorities are investigating a fraudulent Facebook post that misused the photo of Odisha Governor and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das to promote a misleading job offer. The case, registered at Dhurwa police station, was initiated based on a complaint filed by Dinesh Kedia, Raghubar Das‘ Personal Secretary.

According to Kedia, the deceptive post appeared on May 6 under the Facebook profile "Sharma Pratap Oraon," which featured Raghubar Das’ image.

The post advertised job opportunities, claiming that twenty candidates from each district were needed for work-from-home positions, and provided two mobile numbers for interested individuals to contact.

Alarmed by the misleading nature of the post, Kedia promptly informed the relevant authorities, resulting in the registration of a case under sections 170, 66C, and 66D.

The police have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the Facebook profile and identify the individuals responsible for the fraudulent posts.

Senior police officials have been apprised of the situation, and authorities have assured a swift resolution to the case.

They have also vowed to take stringent action against the perpetrators once they are apprehended, emphasizing the seriousness of the offense.

The misuse of high-profile individuals’ photographs for fraudulent purposes is a cause for concern, as it can mislead unsuspecting citizens and tarnish the reputation of the persons involved.

The police are determined to crack down on such instances of fraud and bring the culprits to justice.
