Jharkhand Closes Schools for KG to Class VIII Students Due to Heat Wave

State Government Acts to Protect Schoolchildren from Intense Temperatures

In response to the severe heat wave affecting Jharkhand, including Jamshedpur, the state government has announced a suspension of classes for students from Kindergarten to 8th grade.

JAMSHEDPUR – As Jharkhand faces sweltering temperatures, the state has decided to halt classes for younger students to ensure their health and safety.

The decision impacts all educational institutions across the state, including government and private schools, ensuring the well-being of students amidst harsh weather conditions.

While classes for younger students are suspended, the state has adjusted schedules for students above 8th grade, who will now attend from early morning to midday.

Despite the suspension for students, all school staff, including teachers and administrative personnel, must adhere to their regular schedules, focusing on administrative duties like results preparation and online updates.

Outdoor school activities such as sports and assemblies will not take place during this period to prevent heat exposure.

Residential schools will maintain normal operations, following specific guidelines to protect their students during the heat wave.

This precautionary measure, effective from April 30, 2024, will continue until authorities deem it safe to resume normal class schedules.
