Hotel Centre Point’s Illegal Constructions Demolished in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur Initiates Demolition of Illegal Structures Following High Court Directive, Crackdown on Building Violations Targets 21 Structures in Compliance Effort

The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has commenced demolition actions against buildings violating construction norms, acting under orders from the Jharkhand High Court.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has commenced demolition actions against buildings violating construction norms, acting under orders from the Jharkhand High Court.

The enforcement action was launched with a demolition at Hotel Center Point, overseen by the Dhalbhum SDO and accompanied by local authorities and police.

This crackdown involves 21 buildings identified for violations such as exceeding height limits and unauthorized use changes.

Violations include transforming parking areas into commercial spaces and operating unapproved commercial activities.

The demolition drive follows a public interest litigation by Sakchi resident Rakesh Jha, citing ongoing non-compliance with building regulations.

The Jharkhand High Court, set to review the demolition progress on April 30, has stressed the urgency of removing illegal constructions.

During proceedings, the court noted particular irregularities, like kitchens in basements designated for parking, expressing surprise at such blatant deviations.

The actions underscore a commitment to enforcing building codes and urban regulations to ensure safety and legality in constructions.
