Jamshedpur: DEO Holds Meeting to Facilitate Postal Ballot Voting for Essential Services

Postal ballot voting scheduled from May 20-22 for Lok Sabha 2024 elections

Officials and employees in essential services to use postal ballots for Lok Sabha general elections 2024, ensuring full participation.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a significant move to ensure inclusive voting in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, District Election Officer Shri Ananya Mittal convened a meeting focused on facilitating postal ballot voting for essential service personnel.

Heads of various offices, including SOR, District Supply Officer, Deputy Election Officer, and District Public Relations Officer, attended the crucial meeting.

To guarantee that every eligible voter in the essential services sector is registered, participants were urged to use the Voter Helpline App, the Voters Service Portal, or call 1950 for assistance in obtaining their EPIC number.

Office heads have been directed to ensure that all employees under the essential services category are included in the voter list, utilizing Form 6 for any necessary additions.

Eligibility for postal ballot voting will be confirmed upon submission of Form 12D, filled with the necessary details to the postal ballot branch.

The essential services category encompasses a broad range of sectors, including electricity, telecommunications, railways, postal services, broadcasting, healthcare, food services, and media, among others.

Instructions were issued to prepare and submit lists of essential service workers to the Postal Ballot Cell, ensuring that those on duty during election day can vote via postal ballot.

During the meeting, guidelines from the Election Commission on postal ballot voting were shared, emphasizing the process for essential service workers to cast their votes in the general elections.

District Election Officer Shri Ananya Mittal stressed the importance of 100% voter participation among essential service personnel through the postal ballot system, outlining the procedure and the voting period from May 20 to May 22.
