Gas Cylinder Explosion Investigated in Birsanagar

Authorities probe incident after cylinder explosion causes significant damage in residential area

Investigation underway to determine the cause of the gas cylinder explosion at Sandeep Kumar’s home.

JAMSHEDPUR – A gas cylinder explosion at a residence in Birsanagar Zone No. 4 on Saturday afternoon has prompted an official investigation, with the Birsanagar police station registering a case and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) leading the inquiry.

The incident occurred at the home of Sandeep Kumar, near the washing center, resulting in substantial property damage and personal loss.

Sandeep reported that the explosion followed the sudden ignition of the gas cylinder, which had been delivered and installed at his house at around 11 am the same day. A leakage issue is suspected to have caused the fire, which escalated into an explosion before preventive measures could be taken.

Efforts to extinguish the fire were unsuccessful, leading to the decision to isolate the cylinder in a room while awaiting the fire department’s response. However, the situation worsened, resulting in a loud explosion that consumed household appliances, including an air conditioning unit and a television, as well as Rs 20,000 in cash.

The structural integrity of the house was compromised, with visible cracks appearing on the walls, and the total estimated loss amounts to lakhs of rupees.

The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the precise cause of the explosion, with a focus on ensuring such incidents are averted in the future, safeguarding the community’s safety and well-being.
