Elephant from local herd causes disruption in Chakulia, railway gate damaged, train schedule affected.
JAMSHEDPUR – The train routes from Kokpada to Chakulia experienced a slower pace due to a damaged railway gate.
Chakulia, presently experiencing frequent elephant visits, was the scene of the incident.
West Bengal’s train lines, both up and down, regularly traverse through the forested path between Kokpada station to Gidhni, leading to instances of elephants crossing the tracks.
Given this fact, it’s not surprising that a tusked elephant broke the fence as it separated from its herd.
A mass of locals gathered near the damaged gate, watching as railway employees quickly sprung into action to mend it.
The occurrence can be traced back to a larger issue — a group of wild elephants has set up residence near the railway track in the Sal forest, according to local residents.
A particular elephant, making its way out of the Sunsunia forest at 6 a.m., was the one to cause this commotion.
Despite the chaos, the residents managed to shepherd the elephant back into the forest, averting further damage.
