Economics Department Analyzes Budget’s Impact on "Viksit Bharat"

XITE College’s Department of Economics recently held a seminar on March 19, 2024, titled "Decoding the Union Interim Budget 2024," gathering students and faculty to dissect and understand the budget’s implications.

JAMSHEDPUR – The seminar aimed to provide in-depth insights into the Union Interim Budget 2024, centered around the theme “Viksit Bharat” and its impact on the nation’s poor, women, youth, and farmers.

Dr. Sanchita Ghosh Chowdhury, the department’s coordinator, welcomed attendees, highlighting the seminar’s goal of exploring the Interim Budget’s potential benefits and opportunities for societal welfare and aspirations.

The event featured presentations by students Anil Jojowar, Melwyn David, Lavish Boipai, Pragya B. Kujur, Jaya Mardi, Ayush Bhengra, and Shreya Munduiya, who discussed various budget aspects including education, capital expenditure, entrepreneurship, budget deficit, manufacturing, taxes, and defense.

Dr. Radha Mahali concluded the seminar with insights into how the budget aligns with India’s long-term objectives and Sustainable Development Goals, contemplating India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.

An interactive session allowed the audience to engage directly with the speakers, offering queries and verbal feedback on the discussed topics.

Ms. Supriya Mohanty expressed gratitude towards all participants, while Ms. Ashwini V. Purty served as the Master of Ceremony. The event received commendations from Fr. (Dr.) E.A. Francis, S.J., the Principal, and Fr. (Dr.) Mukti Clarence, S.J., the Vice-Principal, for its successful execution and valuable contributions to academic discourse.
