Jharkhand: Massive Budget and Housing Boost for 2024-25 Announced

Government Plans 4.5 Lakh Houses for the Poor, BJP Demands CBI Probe in Exam Leak

The financial blueprint for 2024-25, earmarking Rs 1.28 lakh crore, was approved amidst a mix of political drama and ambitious housing initiatives for the underprivileged.

RANCHI – The state government’s fiscal plan for 2024-25, boasting a budget of Rs 1.28 lakh crore, received approval through a voice vote.

In a significant development, the government announced the construction of 4.5 lakh Abua houses for the poor, exceeding the initially proposed 3.5 lakh.

The decision to increase the number of houses comes in response to a high volume of pending applications and is supported by Chief Minister Champai Soren’s recommendation.

This move builds on the previous commitment to provide 2 lakh Abua houses in the current fiscal year, aiming to address housing needs effectively.

The announcement came amid BJP MLAs walking out, demanding a CBI investigation into a CGL exam paper leak.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Alam, defending the government’s track record, highlighted achievements in infrastructure development and social welfare.

Alam cited increased old age pensions and initiatives like rural road networks as examples of the government’s commitment to its electoral promises.

The debate over the budget was marked by heated exchanges, laughter, and criticisms from both sides of the House.

Enhanced Housing Initiative

The government’s decision to upscale the construction of Abua houses from 3.5 lakh to 4.5 lakh underscores a significant push towards alleviating housing shortages for the economically disadvantaged.

Political Dynamics and Governance

The session was notable not only for the budget approval and housing announcement but also for the political tensions highlighted by the BJP’s walkout and the debate’s contentious moments, illustrating the complex interplay between governance and political accountability.
