Jamshedpur Celebrates PN Bose’s Legacy with New Centre
Tata Steel establishes PN Bose Geological Centre in Jamshedpur, marking the 185th Founder’s Day with a tribute to the geologist’s contributions.
JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel pays homage to P N Bose, a key figure in its inception, with the PN Bose Geological Centre in Jamshedpur.
The centre is a tribute to Bose’s groundbreaking work in geology.
Located at E Road, Northern Town, Bistupur, it faces the Tata Steel Foundation Office.
N Chandrasekaran, Tata Sons’ Chairman, will unveil the centre on March 2.
This event is part of the 185th Founder’s Day festivities in the city.
P N Bose’s discovery of iron ore in Mayurbhanj was pivotal for Tata Steel.
His correspondence with J N Tata in 1904 led to the company’s foundation.
Tata Iron and Steel Company was established near Sakchi in 1907.
The company’s site was strategically chosen near the Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers.
This location also benefited from proximity to the Bengal-Nagpur railway line.
Bose’s achievements include identifying iron deposits in Dhulli and Rajhara, Madhya Pradesh.
He was born in 1855 in Gaipur, West Bengal, and had a notable education in London.
