JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel is poised to honor the 185th birth anniversary of its founder, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, with grand celebrations themed ‘Technology for People and Planet’ in Jamshedpur on March 3, 2024.

This year’s Founder’s Day festivities will spotlight the illumination of over 50 key locations throughout the city, showcasing heritage buildings, worship places, and roundabouts in vibrant lights, symbolizing the commemoration and the city’s enriched beauty.

The comprehensive schedule includes homage programs, exhibitions, sports events, and a significant Science and Technology Exhibition at SNTI, along with an exhibition at Steelennium Hall within Jamshedpur Works.

These events underscore Tata Steel’s commitment to technological advancements aimed at societal and environmental betterment, reflecting the founder’s vision of industrial progress intertwined with community welfare.

Enlightening Legacy and Technological Vanguard

The centerpiece exhibition at Steelennium Hall will elaborate on the theme ‘Technology for People and Planet,’ highlighting Tata Steel’s endeavors in harnessing technology for capacity growth, transition to green steel, and enhancing community and customer relations.

Scheduled for inauguration on March 3, the exhibition will display technology-driven initiatives by various departments, reinforcing the company’s ambition to lead the industry with a responsible environmental footprint and contribute to economic prosperity.

This initiative mirrors Tata Steel’s dedication to leveraging technology in addressing humanity’s paramount challenges and fostering potential.

Sporting Spirit and Community Engagement

Founder’s Day sports events, integral to the celebrations, will commence with preliminary activities at JRD Tata Sports Complex on March 2, engaging employees in relay races, shot-put throws, and activities designed for transpersons and senior citizens.

The culmination of these events on March 3 at Gopal Maidan will invite city residents and community members to partake in the festive atmosphere, further enriched by the presence of Tata Steel’s senior leadership and Tata Workers’ Union top officials.

Homage and Educational Outreach

The homage to J N Tata will unfold across several venues, including Jubilee Park, Postal Park, and Jamshedpur Works, with live broadcasts on Tata Steel’s official Facebook page, extending the celebrations to a global audience.

TechEx 2024, the 14th Science and Technology Exhibition at SNTI, will exhibit 40 projects from March 2-5, focusing on this year’s theme and showcasing innovations by Tata Steel trainees and students from various colleges, demonstrating the youthful dynamism and technological acumen within the Tata ecosystem.

Illumination and Pageantry

The illumination of roundabouts and heritage buildings across Jamshedpur, alongside a pageantry parade at Postal Park featuring horse riders, NCC cadets, and skits, will visually narrate the theme ‘Technology for People and Planet.
