Ambitious tree planting drive aims to enhance Jamshedpur’s green cover

Companies target 5,000 new saplings across city during July 1-7 event

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel and Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (TSUISL) have kicked off a week-long tree planting campaign as part of Van Mahotsav celebrations from July 1-7, 2024.

"This initiative reflects our dedication to environmental sustainability and community engagement," stated a Tata Steel spokesperson.

Key Highlights:

– Special planting event held for local media near Bagh-e-Jamshed

– Over 50 Amaltas and Mahogany saplings planted along Birupa Road

– Separate event for TSUISL employees near Rankini Temple in Kadma

– 1,600+ saplings planted across various locations to date

– Target of 5,000 new trees during the week-long drive

Tree Species:

Neem, Karanj, Mahogany, Amaltas, Bauhinia, Siris, Jarul, and Tabebuia are some of the plants that have been chosen for the plantation drive.

"This green initiative will significantly contribute to cleaner air, increased biodiversity, and a more verdant urban landscape," a journalist taking part in the tree plantation program added.

The campaign saw enthusiastic participation from employees, highlighting the community’s commitment to environmental causes.

This effort is part of Tata Steel’s broader commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development in the Jamshedpur region.

Local residents have welcomed the initiative, recognizing its potential long-term impact on the city’s ecology and livability.
