Jharkhand HC Reserves Order on Hemant Soren’s Assembly Attendance Petition
Former CM’s Plea for Budget Session Participation Awaits Decision
Jharkhand High Court deliberates on ex-CM Hemant Soren’s request to join Budget Session.
RANCHI – The court will announce its decision following a petition against the PMLA Court’s refusal.
Soren’s legal battle began after the PMLA Court in Ranchi denied his Assembly attendance.
The former Chief Minister’s representation by Kapil Sibal emphasized the lack of a charge sheet in the case.
Sibal referenced Supreme Court decisions allowing jailed MLAs to attend legislative sessions.
However, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju argued Soren’s previous misuse of similar permissions.
Raju highlighted Soren’s criticism of the judiciary within the Assembly as problematic.
Soren, detained over a land scam-linked money laundering case, seeks to participate in legislative duties.
The decision follows his earlier granted permission to attend a crucial floor test on February 5.
Soren’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on January 31 has led to his judicial custody.
