The/Nudge Institute Elevates Jharkhand Households

625 families graduate from poverty alleviation program in Jharkhand, The/Nudge Institute reports

The/Nudge Institute marks significant progress in poverty eradication with 625 households graduating in Jharkhand.

JAMSHEDPUR – The/Nudge Institute recently celebrated a milestone achievement by graduating 625 households from extreme poverty in Latehar and Gumla districts of Jharkhand.

This success is part of a broader initiative to empower women from the most vulnerable tribal groups and assist them in establishing sustainable livelihoods.

The graduation ceremony, held at Ranchi University’s Aryabhatta Auditorium, saw the participation of Jharkhand Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan, Ipsita Thakur from KPMG, and other key figures.

Governor Radhakrishnan emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts with the government for scaling programs and ensuring their reach to the last mile.

He highlighted The/Nudge Institute’s extensive work across various Indian states in partnership with state and national government bodies.

The institute’s program, initiated in Jharkhand in 2018, focuses on empowering women to lead their families out of poverty.

This cohort’s graduation follows the first group of 400 women in December 2022, showcasing the program’s effective adaptation of the ‘Graduation approach’ to the local context.

Nobel Laureates Dr. Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo’s evaluation underscores the approach’s effectiveness.

Expanding its efforts beyond Jharkhand, The/Nudge has also implemented the program in Rajasthan and Karnataka, aiming to refine its design based on continuous learning.
