Champai Soren Critiques BJP’s Jharkhand Tenure

Jharkhand CM challenges BJP’s record, pledges comprehensive development and housing for all

Champai Soren outlines ambitious development and housing initiatives, contrasting BJP’s past governance.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a bold critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) governance in Jharkhand, Chief Minister Champai Soren highlighted the alleged lack of social, economic, educational, and infrastructure development during their tenure.

Soren’s comments came during an event at Vinoba Bhave University campus in Hazaribagh district for the distribution of approval letters under the state’s ‘Abua Awas’ housing scheme.

He accused the BJP of inaction since Jharkhand’s establishment in 2000 and contrasted it with the initiatives of the Hemant Soren government since 2019, focusing on fundamental needs and education.

The Chief Minister emphasized the state’s commitment to ensuring food, clothing, and shelter for its residents, aiming to eradicate homelessness and deprivation of concrete houses by 2027.

He announced plans to provide around 1.13 lakh beneficiaries in Hazaribag, Ramgarh, Koderma, and Chatra districts with houses by 2026, and an additional 2.83 lakh beneficiaries within the next five years.

Additionally, Soren disclosed the government’s intentions to establish a dairy plant in Hazaribagh, introduce a pension scheme for women, scheduled tribes, and castes at the age of 50, and increase the provision of free electricity units from 100 to 125.

Highlighting education as a pivotal sector for societal development, he mentioned the launch of model schools, CM schools of excellence, and an increase in scholarship amounts.

Furthermore, Soren revealed plans to extend irrigation facilities to every farmland in the state, underlining the government’s holistic approach to development.

The Chief Minister’s distribution of housing acceptance letters to 28,295 beneficiaries and the transfer of Rs 84.88 crore as the first installment through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) underscores his administration’s active steps towards fulfilling these commitments.
