Bharat Sharma Slams Bhojpuri Music Industry’s Vulgarity Crisis

Bharat Sharma Vyas Criticizes Vulgar Trends in Bhojpuri Songs

Bhojpuri singing legend Bharat Sharma Vyas calls for a return to traditional values in music, condemning the rise in vulgarity.

JAMSHEDPUR – A significant Bhojpuri event is slated for October at the RIT police station ground, marking another milestone in the illustrious career of Bhajan Samrat Bharat Sharma Vyas.

This follows a history of successful gatherings in 2007 and 2008, showcasing the enduring appeal of genuine Bhojpuri artistry.

Among the attendees, notable figures such as Nagina Singh and Purendra Narayan Singh, alongside a cadre of social activists, underscored the community’s support for Vyas’ message.

The welcome ceremony for Bharat Sharma Vyas at Hotel The Onyx in Adityapur was a testament to his stature, featuring ceremonial honors and a gathering of prominent community members.

During the event, Vyas performed "Geet Bhojpuri se obscenity mitaval jaite," a song advocating for the preservation of Bhojpuri’s purity.

He emphasized the importance of fostering a connection to one’s roots, language, and culture, urging future generations to cherish and promote Bhojpuri.

Vyas extended a special request to those in higher education to speak Bhojpuri within their communities, highlighting the language’s intrinsic value.

Acknowledging the role of music companies, listeners, and writers in the proliferation of vulgar content, Vyas called for a collective effort to elevate the genre.

Vyas criticized modern Bhojpuri singers for prioritizing dance over traditional singing techniques, contributing to the genre’s declining quality.

Highlighting the erosion of Bhojpuri culture for profit, Bharat Sharma Vyas lamented the shift away from the genre’s foundational values.

He recalled the contributions of pioneers like Bhikhari Thakur to Bhojpuri’s development, contrasting it with the current state of the genre.

Bharat Sharma Vyas, revered as the Bhajan Samrat, voiced his concern over the increasing vulgarity in Bhojpuri music, urging a return to cultural and moral integrity.
