Jamshedpur’s Mithila community embraces centuries-old traditions to celebrate the consecration of Ayodhya’s Ram temple.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a vibrant display of devotion and tradition, the Mithila community of Jamshedpur gathered at the Surya Dham Temple in Sidhgora to celebrate the upcoming consecration of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya.

On Sunday, a significant number of women from various parts of the city participated in a special procession, bearing gifts for Lord Shri Ram and Mother Sita.

They carried an array of offerings including body clothes, fruits, sweets, household utensils, and complete attire for Lord Ram, Mother Sita, and Lakshman.

The procession was marked by the singing of traditional Mithila songs, Chumavan and Gaali, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The Sun Temple Committee, led by General Secretary Akhilesh Chaudhary, welcomed the participants and acknowledged the heightened enthusiasm among the devotees.

Chaudhary highlighted the cultural significance of Mithila, regarded as the in-laws’ house of Lord Ram, where it’s traditional to bring gifts for auspicious occasions.

The temple complex is set to host an array of religious activities, including special worship, recitation of Ram Raksha Stotra, havan, aarti, and a grand Deepotsav with fireworks.

Mamta Jha, a member of the Mithila community, emphasized the tradition of supporting new constructions in a daughter’s marital home, symbolically represented by the offering of gifts to Ramlala on this auspicious occasion.

The event was also graced by several dignitaries, including Temple Committee Vice President Amarjeet Singh Raja and others, who warmly received the gifts and participated in the celebrations.

This event highlights the deep cultural roots and communal harmony in Jamshedpur, as the city joins in the nationwide celebration of the historic event in Ayodhya.
