JAMSHEDPUR – The TATA Steel Tour Championship 2023, held at the Beldih and Golmuri Golf Courses, is witnessing an intense competition as it enters its final stages.
Rahil Gangjee, Angad Cheema, and Gaganjeet Bhullar are locked in a three-way tie for the lead, each with a score of 19-under 197.
Gangjee and Cheema delivered impressive rounds of 65, while Bhullar stayed in contention with a 67 on day three.
The event, PGTI’s richest with a prize pool of INR 3 crore, has seen high-caliber performances from a host of golfers.
In the chasing pack, Divyanshu Bajaj, Arjun Prasad, Kartik Sharma, and Shivendra Singh Sisodia are tied for fourth, trailing by four shots.
Gangjee, after his personal best of 62 on day two, continued his strong form with a 65, featuring an eagle and three birdies on the back-nine.
His mental game, as much as his skills, has been a key factor, with Gangjee focusing on staying present and managing his emotions.
Cheema, consistent in his performance, went bogey-free and showcased exceptional chipping skills, setting up multiple birdie opportunities.
Bhullar, the overnight leader, maintained his position with a mix of eagle, birdies, and crucial par saves.
The final round promises to be a gripping contest, as the leading groups start at Golmuri and finish at Beldih.
Last year’s winner Chikkarangappa S and TATA Steel PGTI Ranking leader Om Prakash Chouhan are among those in the fray, adding depth to the competition.
Local professionals Karan Taunk and Kurush Heerjee are also participating, representing Jamshedpur in the prestigious tournament.
This year’s championship is not just a test of golfing skill but also a showcase of mental resilience, as players vie for the top spot in the TATA Steel PGTI Order of Merit.
