Dowry Death Allegations in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur Woman’s Death Leads to Dowry Death Case

Mitali Goswami’s death in Jamshedpur sparks dowry death case; family alleges harassment and mistreatment by in-laws.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a heart-wrenching incident in Jamshedpur, 32-year-old Mitali Goswami has tragically passed away, leading to a dowry death case being registered.

The case, filed at Sakchi police station, is based on allegations from Mitali’s father, Umesh Chandra Goswami.

The accused include Mitali’s husband N Goswami, his parents A and M Goswami, and relatives Sonu, P, and R Goswami.

Umesh Chandra Goswami, a resident of Tundi, Dhanbad, narrated how his daughter married N Goswami in December 2016.

Initially, the marriage seemed harmonious, but soon Mitali began to suffer harassment over dowry demands.

Despite the abuse, the family hesitated to file a complaint, hoping to settle matters privately.

According to the father, the situation escalated when Mitali was pregnant and temporarily ousted from her in-laws‘ home, only to be readmitted after giving birth to a son.

On December 6, the in-laws’ demands for a flat led to Mitali’s second expulsion.

Umesh Chandra Goswami attempted to mediate but to no avail.

Mitali’s tragic call for help on Tuesday evening was followed by the shocking news of her alleged suicide.

Upon investigation, her family discovered injury marks on her body.

The police have taken the accused into custody, and an investigation is ongoing to uncover the truth behind Mitali Goswami’s untimely death and the allegations of dowry death.
