AIDSO’s Kolhan Division Education Convention Criticizes New Education Policy
Over 300 student representatives in Jamshedpur oppose NEP-2020, citing threats to education’s secular and democratic nature.
JAMSHEDPUR – The All India Democratic Students Organization (AIDSO) in Jharkhand recently organized the Kolhan Division Education Convention.
Sohan Mahato, AIDSO State Secretary, highlighted the adverse impacts of NEP-2020 at the event.
This convention, held in Chaibasa’s Urdu Library Hall, drew over 300 student representatives from surrounding districts.
The students, representing various educational institutions, collectively opposed the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020.
Sudeep Dutta, AIDSO West Bengal State Secretary Board member, criticized the policy for threatening the government education system and promoting commercialization.
He contended that NEP-2020 undermines secular, democratic, and scientific education foundations.
Samar Mahato, AIDSO’s All India Secretary Board member and State President, raised concerns about education from primary to higher levels in the Kolhan division.
He stressed that defending education is crucial for preserving civilization and humanity.
Mahato criticized NEP-2020 as a move towards privatizing and commercializing education, along with communal influences.
He condemned the policy’s departure from logical, scientific approaches, notably the removal of Darwin’s theories from the curriculum.
Moreover, Mahato expressed concerns over the central government’s increasing control over educational institutions, indicating an erosion of their autonomy.
