Former Minister Exposes Rs 250 Crore Scam in Jharkhand

Healthcare Scandal Rocks Jharkhand, Ex-Minister Demands Probe

Former Energy Minister Lalchand Mahato reveals a Rs 250 crore scam in Jharkhand’s healthcare sector, alleging fraudulent activities during the Raghuvar government’s tenure.

RANCHI – Lalchand Mahato, former Energy Minister, has unveiled a massive Rs 250 crore scam in Jharkhand’s healthcare sector under the previous Raghuvar government.

In a revealing press conference, Mahato claimed that over Rs 500 crore was paid to Medol for supposed medical investigations, half of which involved fraudulent billing.

The ex-minister has escalated the issue by writing to the Governor, Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, and the Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, calling for an in-depth investigation.

Mahato accused doctors and civil surgeons of collusion in this elaborate scheme, alleging that many of the billed investigations were never actually conducted.

Evidence points to a system of counterfeit bills to siphon funds from the government.

During the Raghuvar government’s tenure, contracts were awarded to two private agencies, Medol and SRS, to enhance healthcare services in 12 districts.

The contracts were focused on improving medical care for the impoverished, including free pathological tests.

Now, these two agencies are at the center of the scandal, with allegations of misusing government funds meant for vital health services.

This revelation has cast a shadow over the healthcare improvements in the state, with potential implications for the delivery of medical services to the underprivileged.

Mahato’s disclosure has triggered a call for transparency and accountability in government contracts and healthcare expenditures in Jharkhand.
