Free Medical Camp in Lakshmi Nagar Draws Attention to Cleft Conditions. The camp treated nine patients and educated the public on cancer and cleft conditions.

JAMSHEDPUR – A remarkable health initiative led by Dr. Saurabh Sahay brought hope and medical assistance to the community at the Lakshmi Nagar Senior Citizens Building.

The event, organized through the collaborative efforts of Anand Marg, Srijan Yoga Sadhana, and Pritpal Cansupport, witnessed the provision of free medications and treatment to patients. The team, including Dr. Sahay, Chaitali Murmu, Meera Rani Mahanty, and N Dnyaneshwar Rao, also played a pivotal role in educating the public about cancer.

In collaboration with Inga Health Foundation, Operation Smile, Prevention of Crability Animals and Plants, and Anand Marg Universal Relief Team Global, a free check-up camp was held in Talukta for a patient with a congenital cleft lip. Operating from 10 am to 3 pm, the camp saw a total of nine patients, including three with cleft lip and palate and two with only cleft palate. Additionally, three undernourished children were identified and provided with free lactogen and medication.

These patients are scheduled for surgery on December 9th at Operation Smile Mission Durgapur, with no charges for the procedure. Apoorva Mandal, Patient Coordinator at Durgapur IQ Medical College and Hospital, highlighted that cleft lip and palate are caused by improper facial tissue fusion during development, citing factors such as smoking during pregnancy, maternal age extremes, and malnutrition.

Surgery remains a primary solution for correcting cleft palates, a birth defect occurring in one or two out of every 800 births worldwide. The success of this program owes much to the significant contributions of Srijan Yoga Sadhana members Chandrabhushan Prasad, Sunil Anand, Ramesh Singh, and Sitaram Dev.
