JAMSHEDPUR – The mood in the city has been dampened following a tragic accident that occurred during the Durga Puja idol immersion at Bailey Bodhanwala Ghat in Bistupur, Jamshedpur.
The district administration confirmed that two out of the five injured in the accident have been declared dead by doctors at Tata Main Hospital.
East Singhbhum DC Manjunath Bhajantri expressed his condolences over the tragic loss and wished a speedy recovery to the remaining injured individuals.
This incident has cast a dark shadow over the Durga Puja celebrations, turning joyous festivities into a period of mourning.
The Chief Minister Hemant Soren too has condoled the demise of two persons during immersion inJamshedpur.
Health Minister Banna Gupta, along with Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri and Senior SP Kishore Kaushal, visited Tata Main Hospital to assess the situation.
The DC has instructed the hospital to provide the best medical facilities to the injured.

Initial reports suggest that a truck carrying a Durga idol lost control and rolled backward on a slope, severely injuring at least five individuals.
Among the deceased is Virendra Sharma, a resident of Kitadih, Jamshedpur. His father is Panchropan Sharma. He was declared dead upon arrival at Tata Main Hospital.
