Jamshedpur Cracks Down on Tobacco Sales, Collects Fines from 9 Shops

District Administration Launches Anti-Tobacco Campaign, Plans Workshop to Spread Awareness Among Youth and Educators

In a concerted effort to control tobacco sales, Jamshedpur district administration conducts raids, levies fines, and is organizing an awareness workshop on September 5th.

JAMSHEDPUR – Under the direction of District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri, the district administration has embarked on a rigorous campaign against the sale of tobacco products in urban areas.

In the last 24 hours, multiple raids were carried out, resulting in fines being imposed on several shops that violated anti-tobacco regulations.

A sum of Rs 3200 was collected from nine shops during the operations today.

Recognizing the detrimental effects of tobacco, a one-day district-level workshop is scheduled for September 5.

The workshop aims to educate heads and teachers of government schools as well as members of the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) about the health hazards associated with tobacco consumption.

Voluntary organizations and experts in the field of tobacco control will provide insights into the adverse impacts of tobacco on health.

The initiative particularly aims to enlighten the youth and dissuade them from tobacco use, as part of a broader strategy to keep them away from drugs.
