Jamshedpur Flags Off Awareness Chariot for Dengue and Chikungunya Prevention

Deputy Commissioner Launches Campaign; 150 Patients Admitted in East Singhbhum, Vigilance Intensified

Deputy Commissioner’s initiative to spread awareness about dengue and chikungunya reaches urban areas of Jamshedpur, emphasizing prevention measures and cleanliness in the community.

JAMSHEDPUR – In response to the growing cases of dengue and chikungunya in Jamshedpur, the Deputy Commissioner has flagged off an awareness chariot.

This chariot will traverse the entire urban area, disseminating information to the public.

While cases were on the rise in Jamshedpur city, the district administration’s vigilance has managed to stabilize the situation.

Currently, 150 patients are admitted in East Singhbhum district, with one in ICU, whose condition is normal.

The district administration is fully vigilant to control any increase.

The Dengue Chikungunya awareness vehicle was launched by District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr. Manjunath Bhajantri from the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Through this campaign chariot, awareness will be spread across the urban area, urging people to avoid waterlogging, use mosquito nets, and wear full-body coverings.

The Deputy Commissioner has also directed officials from various municipal bodies to focus on cleanliness and spray Anti Larvae to reduce mosquito outbreaks.

On the occasion, Mr. Bhajantri emphasized public participation in prevention and control of dengue, appealing for awareness and precautionary measures.

Some key prevention measures include:

1. Keeping water containers covered as Aedes mosquitoes thrive in clean water.

2. Sleeping inside mosquito nets.

3. Wearing clothes that cover the whole body.

4. Contact a doctor immediately if symptoms of dengue/chikungunya appear.

The public was also warned against allowing water accumulation in cooler buckets, vases, fridge trays, and storing broken utensils or used tires, as these create breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
