West Singhbhum Administration trains Anganwadi workers for a mass drug program running from 10 to 25 August to eradicate filariasis, providing detailed information on dosage and management.
CHAIBASA – A mass drug program for the eradication of filariasis is scheduled to run from 10 to 25 August.
The administration has taken steps to ensure the success of the program by providing training to Anganwadi workers.
The one-day training was organized in the office auditorium of the Child Development Project Officer.
Dr. Rashmi Dutta and Ahsan Farooq provided detailed information during the training session.
They explained the appropriate DEC and albendazole dosage for each age group, as well as potential adverse effects and how to manage them.
All Angabadis will be provided with albendazole medicine at the booth on 10 August.
From 11 to 25 August, the trained individuals will visit every house, feeding the medicine to everyone to prevent filariasis.
However, certain groups such as pregnant women, children below two years, and seriously ill people will not be given the medicine.
